ACUI's Role with College Bowl

The Association of College Unions International (ACUI) is a non-profit higher education network of nearly 4,000 individual members. Members include urban and rural campuses, four-year and two-year schools, large and small universities and international affiliates. ACUI helps college unions and student activities professionals improve their programs and services and to be effective contributors to individual growth and development.

College Bowl's relationship with ACUI dates back to 1976 when the College Bowl Campus Program was inaugurated, with ACUI serving as CB's educational partner. ACUI provides a direct link to its member campuses and provides a significant volunteer pool which helps organize and administer the College Bowl program...on campus, at Regionals and at the National Championship Tournament (NCT).

ACUI's Committee and Regional structure is integral to College Bowl's success in this effort. Some 400 ACUI volunteers serve in a variety of capacities including game officials, tournament officials, hosts, College Bowl Program Group members and Regional Coordinators. ACUI's volunteers serve in both the College Bowl and Honda Campus All-Star Challenge programs.

The following brief question and answer section is designed to cover the most frequently asked questions.

What does the ACUI College Bowl Program Team (CBPT) do?

This 4-8 person "committee" supervises ACUI's involvement with the College Bowl program. Members are involved with the College Bowl Company in policy making and national implementation of the College Bowl program. In addition, they serve as game officials and tournament personnel at the Regional Championship Tournament (RCT) and National Championship Tournament (NCT).

To volunteer for the College Bowl National program, or for more information on ACUI's involvement with College Bowl, email Gail Ferlazzo the ACUI College Bowl Program Team Chair.

What do the ACUI Regional Coordinators (RCs) do?

Each of the 15 ACUI Regional College Bowl programs is run by an ACUI Regional Coordinator (RC). They run the Regional Championship Tournament (RCT) and assist with school recruitment. RC's are appointed by their respective ACUI Regional Representatives.

Volunteers from each region assist with the Regional Championship Tournament (RCT), serving as hosts and game officials. To volunteer for the RCT, or for more information about Regional College Bowl activities, contact the Regional Coordinator in your area.

What is ACUI's Involvement with HCASC?

ACUI is an educational partner in Honda Campus All-Star Challenge (HCASC).

ACUI volunteers are in the majority at the HCASC National Championship Tournament, serving as game officials, event staff, tournament officials, computer consultants, handling student hospitality, transportation, and more.

To volunteer for the Honda Campus All-Star Challenge Program, email Lillian Parker.
