FAQ

The following document covers the essential information you need to know about High School Bowl to start a local competition.

HIGH SCHOOL BOWL is available in two formats:

  • For non-broadcast use, we license the format and sell game packets.
  • For local television, a per program license fee includes format rights and a game packet

Local banks, supermarkets, department stores, fast food franchises, utility companies, soft drink bottlers, automobile dealerships and just about every other community based business are potential sponsors.

HIGH SCHOOL BOWL is licensed on a market by market basis whether for broadcast or as a live competition. Licensees receive the exclusive "franchise" for the program in their area.

The HIGH SCHOOL BOWL package is a complete one. All clients -- non-broadcast and broadcast receive a production kit including:

  • Packets of high school level questions for your tournament or broadcast
  • Official rules and regulations
  • Tournament charts, scoresheets & sample schedules
  • Practice questions for participating team

HIGH SCHOOL BOWL follows the same format and rules as the popular COLLEGE BOWL game, now played at hundreds of colleges and universities as an intramural and intercollegiate sport.

There are two types of questions: TOSS-UPS, worth 10 points and BONUSES, worth a stated number of points from 20 to 30 on which the team confers on its answer.

All questions and answers supplied for HIGH SCHOOL BOWL are written and researched by the COLLEGE BOWL Editorial Staff. Each game contains 28 toss-up questions and 25 bonus questions, enough for approximately 20 minutes of timed game play.

The questions cover every conceivable subject area -- all at the right level for today's high school students:

History Science Literature
Mathematics Geography Movies
Poetry Mythology Business
Social Studies Bible Popular Culture
Current Events Foreign Languages Calculation
Spelling Sports Music
Religion Drama Philosophy
Government Art ... and more!

Each game packet contains 2 printed copies of the questions, one for the host/moderator, the other for the judge.
